La Spinona is a company that represents its founder, Pietro Berutti, a man of great experience who believed in Barbaresco since the early 1940’s. Pietro’s son Gualtiero, an experienced veterinary surgeon, brought his expertise not only to the breeding of Piemontese cattle but also to the cultivation of the vineyards and the selection of the vines. He bears the environmental responsibility with his son Pietropaolo, a winemaking technician and the head of production at La Spinona, with a confident commitment to respect and better the environment.
La Spinona, a name associated with this precious land, originates from the still-vivid memory of the family’s Spinone Italiano, Baica. She was a friend and “sister” who accompanied Pietro for many years along the path that would eventually become the winery. Baica is a symbol of pride and place in La Spinona’s philosophy and represents the history and connection to nature that makes high-quality wine possible. Through meticulous work and attention to the environment, the wines produced here are clean, elegant, and a beacon of tradition.
