Sangiovese is the notorious king of varietals in Tuscany and for the owner of La Fiorita, Natalie Oliveros, the strong and recognizable terroir of Montalcino is the best expression of Sangiovese in Italy.
La Fiorita was established in 1992, starting from a project that Roberto Cipresso, winemaker on the rise at the time, began with a few well known partners (including our Lucio Gomiero of Vignalta!). The first vineyard was just 1/2 hectare and in 1993, the first production was only 1,000 bottles. The cellar was in the basement of an old 18th century building in the heart of the medieval town of Castelnuovo Abate.
From the first vintage in 1993 the wines of La Fiorita have inspired a cult-like following and are sought out for their elegance and balance of power. With two unique vineyards of opposing soil, altitude, and exposure; the grapes produced are of outstanding quality and definitive character. La Fiorita’s historic focus has always been Brunello, but future projects will undoubtedly bing new offerings and surprises.
